This Cheesy Football Dip is the ultimate game day appetizer, featuring a creamy, zesty blend of cheeses, salsa, and jalapeños, all baked into a playful football shape. It’s quick, easy, and guaranteed to be the MVP of your party spread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 3/4 cup salsa
  • 23 tbsp pickled jalapeños, diced
  • 1 tbsp ranch seasoning mix
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
  • 23 green onions, finely sliced (reserve some for garnish)
  • Black olives, sliced (about 1/4 cup, for garnish)
  • Tortilla chips, crackers, or toasted baguette slices (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, beat together cream cheese, sour cream, and ranch seasoning until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Fold in salsa, diced pickled jalapeños, and half of the sliced green onions. Mix gently.
  4. Scrape the mixture onto the lined baking sheet and shape into an oval (about 9 inches long and 5 inches wide) to resemble a football.
  5. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top, pressing gently so it sticks. Dust with smoked paprika if using.
  6. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden around the edges. For a deeper crust, broil for 1-2 minutes, watching closely.
  7. Let the dip cool for 3-5 minutes. Use sliced black olives to create football laces on top and sprinkle with remaining green onions.
  8. Transfer the dip (with parchment) to a serving platter. Serve warm with chips, crackers, or baguette slices.

Notes

Let cream cheese and sour cream come to room temperature for smooth mixing. For extra heat, use fresh jalapeños or add hot sauce. To keep warm during a party, transfer to a slow cooker on ‘warm.’ For gluten-free, ensure ranch seasoning and chips are certified gluten-free. Leftovers keep in the fridge for up to 3 days; reheat gently before serving.
