These easy, crunchy apple chips are made in the air fryer with just apples, cinnamon, and sugar. They’re a healthy, kid-friendly snack that’s ready in under 20 minutes and perfect for lunchboxes, parties, or guilt-free munching.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 23 medium apples (any variety; Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji recommended)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar (or coconut sugar, optional for sugar-free)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional, for soaking)
  • Nonstick cooking spray (for air fryer basket, optional)
  • 1 cup cold water (for optional lemon soak)

Instructions

  1. Wash and prep apples: Rinse 2-3 medium apples under cool water and pat dry. Core apples if desired.
  2. Slice apples: Using a mandoline or sharp knife, slice apples into thin rounds, about 1/16-inch (1.5 mm) thick. Try to keep slices uniform.
  3. Optional lemon soak: Place slices in a bowl with 1 tablespoon lemon juice and 1 cup cold water for 3-5 minutes. Drain and pat dry with paper towels.
  4. Mix cinnamon-sugar: In a small bowl, combine 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon and 2 teaspoons granulated sugar. Stir until well blended.
  5. Toss apple slices: Gently toss apple slices in a mixing bowl with the cinnamon-sugar blend, coating each slice lightly.
  6. Prep air fryer: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with nonstick spray. Arrange apple slices in a single layer, not overlapping.
  7. Air fry: Set air fryer to 350°F (175°C). Cook for 8 minutes, then flip each slice with tongs. Cook another 5-7 minutes, checking at intervals, until chips are golden brown and crisp at the edges.
  8. Cool and crisp: Remove chips and lay them on a wire rack to cool. They will crisp up further as they cool.
  9. Repeat and batch: Repeat with remaining slices as needed, depending on air fryer size.
  10. Serve: Enjoy chips warm for softness or fully cooled for maximum crunch. If not crunchy enough, return to air fryer for 2-3 more minutes.

Notes

For best crunch, slice apples as thinly and evenly as possible. Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket—work in batches for crispier chips. Chips crisp up more as they cool. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze and re-crisp in the air fryer. Try different apple varieties or spice blends for fun twists. For a sugar-free version, omit sugar or use a sugar substitute.
