A quick and easy cheesy pull-apart garlic bread loaf that’s perfect for parties and cozy nights. This recipe features a crusty bread loaf filled with garlic butter and a blend of mozzarella and sharp cheddar cheese for a gooey, flavorful treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large crusty bread loaf (round sourdough or Italian boule preferred)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine 1/2 cup softened unsalted butter, 4 minced garlic cloves, 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Mix until well blended. Add a pinch of red pepper flakes if desired.
  3. Using a sharp bread knife, cut the loaf in a crosshatch pattern with vertical and horizontal cuts about 1 inch apart, stopping about 3/4 through the loaf so it holds together.
  4. Gently pull apart the bread slices and spread the garlic butter evenly into every cut.
  5. Stuff shredded mozzarella and sharp cheddar cheese generously into the cuts, making sure cheese is tucked into all crevices.
  6. Wrap the loaf loosely in aluminum foil and place it on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes to warm and melt the cheese.
  7. Remove the foil and bake uncovered for another 10-15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and the top edges are golden and crispy.
  8. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving. Pull apart the cheesy chunks and enjoy.

Notes

Use a dense, crusty loaf like sourdough or Italian boule for best pull-apart effect. Soften butter before mixing for easy spreading. Wrap in foil during initial baking to melt cheese thoroughly, then bake uncovered for crispy edges. Freshly shred cheese for better melt and flavor. Leftovers can be refrigerated up to 2 days and reheated in oven at 350°F for 10 minutes. Avoid microwaving to keep texture crispy.
