These cozy football-shaped chocolate brownie bites with tangy cream cheese laces are a perfect, easy game day treat that combines fudgy, moist brownies with a playful twist.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2/3 cup (65g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour blend)
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 oz (115g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup (60g) powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease your mini football silicone molds or muffin tin.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, granulated sugar, and salt until evenly combined.
  3. In another bowl, whisk the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth and shiny.
  4. Slowly add the dry mixture to the wet mixture. Fold gently with a spatula until just combined; do not overmix.
  5. Spoon the batter into each mini football mold, filling about 3/4 full.
  6. Place the molds on a baking sheet and bake for 15-18 minutes until just set but still moist inside (toothpick should come out with a few moist crumbs).
  7. Let the brownie bites cool in the molds for 10 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack to cool fully (20-30 minutes).
  8. Beat the softened cream cheese with powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and pipeable but not runny.
  9. Fill a pastry bag or plastic bag with the cream cheese mixture and pipe a thin line down the center of each brownie football. Add small perpendicular lines to mimic football laces.
  10. Chill the decorated brownie bites in the fridge for 15-20 minutes before serving to let the cream cheese harden slightly.

Notes

Use room temperature eggs and softened butter for smooth batter. Do not overmix to keep brownies tender. Silicone molds make popping out brownie bites easier. Pipe cream cheese laces only after brownies are fully cooled to prevent melting. Practice piping on parchment paper first. For dairy-free, use vegan butter and cream cheese alternatives and flax eggs.
