A quick and easy creamy dip combining cream cheese, sour cream, ranch seasoning, cheddar cheese, and green onions for a crowd-pleasing snack perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) sour cream
  • 1 packet (or 1 tablespoon) ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 cup (115 g) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 23 stalks green onions, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: 4 slices crumbled bacon

Instructions

  1. Soften the cream cheese by leaving it out for about 30 minutes until easily pokeable but not melted.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and sour cream. Use a hand mixer on medium speed to whip for about 2 minutes until smooth and creamy. If mixing by hand, beat vigorously with a spoon until no lumps remain.
  3. Add ranch seasoning mix, garlic powder, and black pepper. Mix on low speed for about 30 seconds until combined.
  4. Gently fold in shredded cheddar cheese and chopped green onions to preserve texture.
  5. If using bacon, cook until crispy, crumble, and fold into the dip last.
  6. Chill the dip in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to let flavors meld and firm up slightly.
  7. Serve chilled or at room temperature with crackers, chips, or veggie sticks.

Notes

Soften cream cheese well to avoid lumps; shred your own cheddar cheese for best melting and texture; fold cheese and onions in last to keep dip light; chill at least 30 minutes before serving; can be frozen for up to 2 months; dip tastes better after chilling.
