A nostalgic, creamy pineapple pretzel fluff salad with a perfect balance of sweet, tangy pineapple and salty pretzel crunch. Easy to make and perfect for potlucks and summer gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups crushed pretzels (small pretzel twists or sticks)
  • 1 ½ cups mini marshmallows
  • 1 can (about 20 oz) pineapple chunks, drained
  • 1 can (about 20 oz) crushed pineapple, drained
  • 1 cup frozen whipped topping, thawed (or homemade whipped cream)
  • ½ cup mayonnaise (full-fat recommended or Greek yogurt for lighter option)
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • Optional: ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Instructions

  1. Drain the pineapple chunks and crushed pineapple in a colander over the sink for about 5 minutes to remove excess liquid.
  2. Place 2 cups of pretzels in a large zip-top bag and gently crush them with a rolling pin or hands into bite-sized pieces.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine ½ cup mayonnaise, ¼ cup sugar, and 1 cup thawed whipped topping. Stir gently until smooth and creamy.
  4. Fold in the drained pineapple chunks, crushed pineapple, and 1 ½ cups mini marshmallows carefully to avoid breaking up the pineapple.
  5. Gently fold in the crushed pretzels, ensuring even distribution but keeping them intact. If using, add ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts now.
  6. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow flavors to meld and marshmallows to soften.
  7. Before serving, give the salad a gentle stir. For maximum crunch, add pretzels just before serving if prepared in advance.

Notes

Drain pineapple thoroughly to prevent sogginess. Fold pretzels in gently and add just before serving if making ahead to keep crunch. Use frozen whipped topping for convenience or homemade whipped cream for richer flavor. For gluten-free option, use gluten-free pretzels. Adjust sugar to taste or add lemon juice to balance sweetness.
