This recipe delivers perfectly crispy chicken wings with a bold, balanced buffalo sauce using an air fryer for a quick and easy game day favorite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds chicken wings, split into flats and drumettes
  • 1 tablespoon aluminum-free baking powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup hot sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot)
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • Optional garnishes: chopped fresh parsley or celery sticks

Instructions

  1. Pat the wings dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture (about 5 minutes).
  2. In a large bowl, toss the wings with baking powder, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika until evenly coated.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes.
  4. Arrange wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket, skin side up, avoiding overcrowding. Cook in batches if necessary.
  5. Air fry wings for 25-28 minutes, flipping halfway through at around 12 minutes, until golden brown and crispy.
  6. While wings cook, melt butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir in hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and honey until combined and warm (about 3 minutes). Remove from heat.
  7. Transfer cooked wings to a large bowl, pour buffalo sauce over, and toss gently until well coated.
  8. Serve immediately, garnished with chopped parsley or celery sticks.

Notes

Use aluminum-free baking powder to avoid metallic taste. Flip wings halfway through cooking for even crispiness. Toss wings in warm sauce to help it cling better. If wings lose crispiness after saucing, air fry for an additional 2 minutes. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket to prevent steaming.
