A quick and easy recipe for crispy, garlicky, cheesy Brussels sprouts made in the air fryer, perfect for healthy snacks or a flavorful side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450 grams) Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup (50 grams) Parmesan cheese, finely grated
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ⅛ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Lemon zest from half a lemon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse 1 pound (450 grams) of fresh Brussels sprouts and trim the ends. Slice each sprout in half lengthwise.
  2. Pat the Brussels sprouts dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine Brussels sprouts with 2 tablespoons olive oil, 3 cloves minced garlic, ½ teaspoon salt, ¼ teaspoon black pepper, and optional ⅛ teaspoon red pepper flakes. Mix well to coat evenly.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3 minutes.
  5. Place Brussels sprouts cut side down in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Avoid overcrowding; cook in batches if necessary.
  6. Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 12-15 minutes, shaking or flipping halfway through for even cooking.
  7. Remove the basket and immediately sprinkle ½ cup (50 grams) finely grated Parmesan cheese over the hot Brussels sprouts. Toss gently to coat.
  8. Optionally, sprinkle lemon zest from half a lemon over the sprouts.
  9. Serve immediately to enjoy the best crunch.

Notes

Dry Brussels sprouts thoroughly before cooking to ensure crispiness. Toss or shake the basket halfway through cooking for even browning. Add Parmesan cheese after cooking to avoid burning. For dairy-free, substitute Parmesan with nutritional yeast or vegan cheese. To prevent garlic from burning, add it right before cooking or halfway through.
