This recipe delivers crispy, juicy chicken thighs with a sweet and savory honey garlic glaze, made quickly and easily in an air fryer. Perfect for a no-fuss, flavorful weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs (about 1.5 lbs / 680 grams)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Optional: red pepper flakes for heat
  • Optional: freshly chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pat 4 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper. Let rest for 10 minutes.
  2. Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for about 5 minutes.
  3. Lightly brush or spray the chicken thighs with 1 tablespoon of olive or avocado oil. Place them skin-side down in the air fryer basket without crowding. Cook for 12 minutes.
  4. Flip the thighs skin-side up using tongs. Cook for another 8-10 minutes until skin is golden brown, crispy, and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  5. While the chicken cooks, combine honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir frequently until thickened into a sticky glaze, about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Transfer cooked chicken to a plate and brush the sticky honey garlic glaze generously over each piece. Optionally, return glazed chicken to the air fryer for 1-2 minutes for extra stickiness, watching carefully to avoid burning.
  7. Garnish with optional red pepper flakes or chopped green onions. Serve hot with your favorite sides.

Notes

Pat chicken dry before seasoning to ensure crispy skin. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to allow proper air circulation. Stir glaze frequently and keep heat moderate to prevent burning. Let chicken rest after cooking for juicy results. If glaze thickens too much, add a splash of water and warm gently to loosen.
