This recipe delivers perfectly golden, crunchy pork chops with a cheesy parmesan crust, cooked quickly and easily in an air fryer for a delicious and satisfying dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 pork chops, bone-in or boneless, about 1 inch thick
  • ½ cup finely grated parmesan cheese (about 50g)
  • ½ cup panko breadcrumbs (about 60g)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs (oregano, basil, thyme blend)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • Olive oil spray or cooking spray

Instructions

  1. In a shallow bowl, combine parmesan, panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, dried Italian herbs, salt, and black pepper. Mix until evenly distributed.
  2. Pat pork chops dry with paper towels to remove moisture.
  3. Lightly spray each pork chop with olive oil spray. Press each pork chop firmly into the parmesan-panko mixture, coating both sides evenly. For a thicker crust, spray and press again.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
  5. Place coated pork chops in the air fryer basket in a single layer without overlapping.
  6. Cook for 12 minutes, then flip and cook for another 8-10 minutes until internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C) and crust is golden brown and crispy.
  7. Let pork chops rest for 5 minutes before serving to lock in juices and maintain crispiness.

Notes

Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket to prevent soggy crust. Pat pork chops dry twice for best crispiness. Use freshly grated parmesan for optimal crust texture. Spray air fryer basket lightly to prevent sticking. Rest pork chops after cooking for juicy, crispy results. For gluten-free, substitute panko with almond flour. For dairy-free, substitute parmesan with nutritional yeast but expect less crispiness.
