A luscious blend of creamy oats, rich cocoa, fresh berries, and a touch of honey that feels more like a dessert than breakfast, perfect for a romantic and cozy Valentine’s morning.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (90g) old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups (480ml) milk of choice (whole milk, almond milk, oat milk, or coconut milk)
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup (75g) fresh strawberries, sliced
  • ½ cup (60g) fresh raspberries
  • 2 tablespoons dark chocolate chips (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of sea salt

Instructions

  1. Combine the oats, milk, cocoa powder, cinnamon, and sea salt in a medium saucepan. Stir gently to mix well before heating.
  2. Heat over medium heat, stirring frequently, for about 8-10 minutes or until the oats are tender and the mixture is creamy.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the honey or maple syrup and vanilla extract. Taste and adjust sweetness if desired.
  4. Quickly fold in the dark chocolate chips while the oats are still hot to allow them to melt.
  5. Transfer the oatmeal into serving bowls and top with sliced fresh strawberries and raspberries. Optionally sprinkle a tiny pinch of sea salt on top.
  6. Serve immediately, optionally with an extra drizzle of honey.

Notes

Use old-fashioned rolled oats for best texture; avoid instant oats to prevent mushiness. Stir frequently to avoid burning. Fresh berries are preferred over frozen to avoid watery oatmeal. Chocolate chips are optional but add a delicious melted chocolate surprise. For vegan version, use plant-based milk and maple syrup instead of honey.
