These pinwheels combine everything bagel seasoning with creamy cream cheese spread on flatbreads, making a quick, tasty, and portable lunchbox snack that kids and adults love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Everything bagel flatbreads or large tortillas (about 8-inch diameter)
  • 8 ounces (225 grams) cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon everything bagel seasoning blend (poppy seeds, sesame seeds, dried garlic, onion flakes, sea salt)
  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh herbs (optional, e.g., chives or parsley)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest (optional)
  • Thinly sliced cucumbers or red bell pepper (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Soften the cream cheese by letting it sit at room temperature for about 20 minutes.
  2. In a small bowl, mix cream cheese with chopped fresh herbs and lemon zest if using. Adjust salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Place one everything bagel flatbread on a clean cutting board.
  4. Using a spreading knife or offset spatula, spread a thin, smooth layer of the cream cheese mixture evenly over the flatbread, leaving about a ½ inch border around the edge.
  5. Generously sprinkle about 1 tablespoon of everything bagel seasoning evenly over the cream cheese layer.
  6. If using, arrange thinly sliced cucumbers or red bell peppers in a single layer on top of the seasoning.
  7. Starting from one edge, carefully roll the flatbread tightly but gently to avoid cracking, sealing the edge without cream cheese.
  8. Wrap the rolled flatbread tightly in plastic wrap or parchment paper and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  9. After chilling, unwrap and slice the roll into 1-inch thick pinwheels, aiming for 8–10 pieces per roll.
  10. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.

Notes

If the flatbread cracks when rolling, warm it slightly in the microwave for 10 seconds wrapped in a damp paper towel to soften. Use softened cream cheese to prevent tearing. Chill the rolled pinwheels for at least 30 minutes before slicing to keep their shape. Use a serrated knife for clean slices. Variations include adding veggies, smoked salmon, or using dairy-free cream cheese alternatives.
