A quick and festive snack combining crunchy popcorn with smooth white chocolate and colorful red and blue sprinkles, perfect for celebrations like the Fourth of July.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 cups popped popcorn, plain or lightly salted
  • 12 ounces (340g) white chocolate chips or melting wafers
  • ½ cup red and blue sprinkles (mix of jimmies, nonpareils, or sanding sugar)
  • ½ cup patriotic candy pieces (optional, e.g., red and blue M&Ms or chopped candy canes)
  • Pinch of sea salt

Instructions

  1. Pop about ½ cup (115g) of unpopped kernels to yield roughly 8 cups of popped popcorn. Remove any unpopped kernels and place popcorn in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Melt 12 ounces (340g) of white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl using 20-second intervals, stirring between each until smooth and creamy. Avoid overheating.
  3. Pour the melted white chocolate over the popcorn and gently fold with a spatula to coat evenly without crushing the popcorn.
  4. Spread the coated popcorn onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat, spreading to an even layer about ½ inch thick.
  5. Immediately sprinkle the red and blue sprinkles and candy pieces evenly over the top and press lightly so they stick.
  6. Sprinkle a light pinch of sea salt over the bark.
  7. Let the bark set at room temperature for about 30 minutes or refrigerate for 15 minutes until the chocolate hardens completely.
  8. Once set, break the bark into bite-sized chunks and store in an airtight container.

Notes

Heat white chocolate gently in short bursts to avoid seizing. Add sprinkles and candies while chocolate is still tacky for best adhesion. Let bark set at room temperature before refrigerating to avoid condensation and stickiness. For dairy-free, use vegan white chocolate and allergen-friendly sprinkles. Popcorn can be substituted with puffed rice for texture variation.
