Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) red-flavored gelatin (cherry or strawberry)
  • ½ cup (120 ml) cold water
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) vodka
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) unflavored gelatin
  • ½ cup (120 ml) cold water
  • ½ cup (120 ml) heavy cream
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) sweetened condensed milk
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) vodka
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) blue-flavored gelatin (blue raspberry or blueberry)
  • ½ cup (120 ml) cold water
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) vodka

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Red Layer: In a mixing bowl, pour 1 cup boiling water over the red-flavored gelatin powder. Stir for about 2 minutes until completely dissolved.
  2. Add ½ cup cold water and ¼ cup vodka, stirring gently.
  3. Pour the mixture evenly into shot glasses or silicone mold. Place them flat in the refrigerator and chill for about 30 minutes or until the layer is firm but slightly tacky.
  4. Make the Creamy Vodka Layer (White): Sprinkle the unflavored gelatin over ½ cup cold water in a small bowl. Let it bloom for 5 minutes.
  5. Heat the bloomed gelatin gently in the microwave for about 15 seconds or until melted (don’t boil).
  6. In another bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, sweetened condensed milk, and ¼ cup vodka.
  7. Slowly whisk the melted gelatin into the cream mixture until smooth and combined.
  8. Pour this creamy mixture gently over the red layer, trying not to disturb it. Chill again for 30-40 minutes until firm.
  9. Prepare the Blue Layer: Dissolve blue-flavored gelatin in 1 cup boiling water, stir in ½ cup cold water and ¼ cup vodka.
  10. Pour carefully over the white creamy layer. Chill for at least 1 hour until fully set.
  11. Serve: Once fully chilled and set, these shots are ready to serve. They should pop out cleanly if using silicone molds, or serve in shot glasses.
  12. Optional: Garnish with a small fresh berry or mint leaf on the creamy layer.

Notes

Chill each layer until tacky before adding the next to prevent mixing. Pour gently over the back of a spoon to keep layers distinct. Use freezer for quick chilling but watch carefully to avoid freezing solid. Variations include using sugar-free gelatin and dairy-free cream substitutes for dietary adaptations.
