A creamy, spicy buffalo chicken dip featuring a fun sour cream spider web design that balances heat and creaminess, perfect for parties and game nights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups shredded cooked chicken (about 280g), rotisserie chicken recommended
  • 8 oz cream cheese (225g), softened
  • 1/2 cup buffalo hot sauce (120ml), such as Frank’s RedHot
  • 1 cup full-fat sour cream (240ml)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (110g), sharp or mild
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (55g)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped green onions or chives (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, buffalo hot sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix with an electric mixer or whisk until smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Fold in shredded chicken and half of the cheddar and mozzarella cheeses. Stir gently to mix, keeping some texture in the chicken. If too stiff, add 1 tablespoon sour cream to loosen.
  4. Spread the mixture evenly in an 8×8 inch (20×20 cm) baking dish and smooth the top.
  5. In a small bowl, mix sour cream until slightly runny but thick enough to hold shape. Spoon into a piping bag or sandwich bag with a small corner cut off.
  6. Pipe concentric circles of sour cream starting from the center outward over the dip surface.
  7. Using a toothpick or skewer, drag lines from the center outward through the circles to create a spider web pattern. Work quickly before sour cream sets.
  8. Bake the dip for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and cheese is melted and slightly golden.
  9. Remove from oven and sprinkle remaining cheddar and mozzarella cheese along with chopped green onions or chives on top.
  10. Serve hot with tortilla chips, celery sticks, or crunchy crackers.

Notes

Use softened cream cheese to avoid lumps. Pat shredded chicken dry to prevent runny dip. The sour cream spider web design requires a slightly runny but thick consistency to pipe smoothly. Dragging the toothpick lines quickly is key to a clear spider web pattern. Leftovers keep well refrigerated up to 3 days and reheat gently. The sour cream design fades after reheating but flavor remains.
