A refreshing and hydrating infused water featuring fresh cucumber, mint, and lemon slices. Perfect for summer, this easy recipe offers a crisp, cooling drink without added sugars or caffeine.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced
  • 810 fresh mint leaves, gently bruised
  • 1 quart (4 cups / 950 ml) cold filtered water
  • Ice cubes, as needed (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash and slice the cucumber and lemon thinly (about 1/8 inch or 3 mm thickness).
  2. Gently bruise the fresh mint leaves using a muddler or the back of a spoon to release aromatic oils.
  3. Add cucumber slices, lemon slices, and bruised mint leaves to a large pitcher or glass jar.
  4. Pour in 1 quart (4 cups / 950 ml) of cold filtered water and stir gently to combine.
  5. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, ideally overnight, to infuse flavors.
  6. Before serving, stir the water again, add ice cubes to glasses as desired, and pour the infused water over the ice.
  7. Optionally garnish with a fresh mint sprig.

Notes

Bruising the mint leaves gently releases more aroma and flavor. Thinly slice lemons to avoid bitterness. Infuse for at least 2 hours, ideally overnight, but do not exceed 24 hours to prevent sourness. Use fresh, firm cucumbers (English cucumbers recommended) to minimize bitterness and cloudiness. Add ice just before serving to keep the drink cold without diluting flavor.
