A fresh, easy, and surprisingly satisfying appetizer featuring crisp cucumber rounds topped with dill-spiked cream cheese and smoky salmon. Perfect for quick entertaining or a light snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large English cucumber
  • 8 ounces full-fat cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Thinly sliced smoked salmon (amount as desired)
  • Optional garnishes: capers or thinly sliced red onion

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the cucumber. Slice into 1/4-inch (about 6 mm) thick rounds. Pat slices dry with a paper towel to avoid watery bites.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whip the softened cream cheese until smooth and fluffy using a hand mixer or whisk.
  3. Add chopped fresh dill, lemon juice, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to the cream cheese. Mix until evenly combined.
  4. Spread about 1 teaspoon of the dill cream cheese onto each cucumber round using a spoon or offset spatula.
  5. Tear or fold thin slices of smoked salmon into small pieces and place one piece on each cucumber round.
  6. Optionally, top with a few capers or a sliver of red onion for extra flavor.
  7. Arrange the rounds on a serving platter and refrigerate for 10-15 minutes before serving to let flavors meld and keep cucumber crisp.

Notes

Pat cucumber slices dry to prevent sogginess. Use fresh dill for best flavor. Fold smoked salmon gently to avoid tearing. Chill assembled rounds before serving for best taste and texture.
