This creamy garlic sauce is the ultimate pizza dip—rich, garlicky, and smooth, made with simple pantry staples in just 10 minutes. It’s a family favorite that elevates pizza night and pairs perfectly with breadsticks, veggies, or sandwiches.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (115g)
  • 45 large fresh garlic cloves, minced or pressed
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise (60g)
  • 1/4 cup sour cream (60g)
  • 2 tablespoons whole milk or heavy cream (30ml)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice (5ml)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • Pinch of black pepper (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley or chives (optional)

Instructions

  1. Gather and measure all ingredients. Mince or press the garlic as finely as possible.
  2. Let the butter sit at room temperature for a few minutes to help it melt evenly.
  3. Place a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Add the butter and melt slowly, stirring occasionally for about 2 minutes. Do not let the butter brown.
  4. Add the minced garlic to the melted butter. Stir constantly for 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned. If garlic starts to turn golden, reduce heat immediately.
  5. Remove the saucepan from heat. Whisk in mayonnaise and sour cream until fully combined and creamy.
  6. Slowly whisk in milk or cream, a little at a time, until you reach your desired dipping consistency. For a thicker sauce, add more sour cream.
  7. Stir in lemon juice, salt, and black pepper (if using). Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  8. Fold in chopped parsley or chives if desired for a fresh, herby finish.
  9. Transfer sauce to a small bowl or ramekin. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

For dairy-free, use vegan butter, mayo, and sour cream with oat or almond milk. Adjust garlic to taste for a milder or bolder flavor. Chill for an hour for deeper flavor and creamier texture. If sauce separates, whisk in a splash of hot water or milk. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 5 days; whisk before serving. Sauce thickens as it sits—thin with milk if needed.
