A playful and delicious Halloween dessert featuring layers of Oreo cookie crumbs, creamy chocolate pudding mixed with cream cheese, and hidden gummy worms for a fun surprise in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 24 Oreo cookies, crushed (double stuffed works best for richness)
  • 1 (3.4 oz / 96 g) package instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 cups (480 ml) cold milk (whole milk recommended for creaminess)
  • 4 oz (115 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup (240 ml) heavy whipping cream, whipped to soft peaks
  • 1/2 cup (60 g) powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (150 g) gummy worms, cut in half
  • Extra crushed Oreos for topping

Instructions

  1. Crush the Oreos using a food processor or place in a sealed plastic bag and crush with a rolling pin until you get a dirt-like texture (about 1-2 minutes). Set aside about 1/2 cup (60 g) of crumbs for topping.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the instant chocolate pudding mix and cold milk until it thickens (about 2 minutes).
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar with an electric mixer until smooth and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  4. Gently fold the pudding into the cream cheese mixture until fully incorporated. Add vanilla extract and stir to combine.
  5. In another bowl, whip the heavy cream to soft peaks (about 3-4 minutes).
  6. Carefully fold the whipped cream into the pudding and cream cheese mixture until light and airy.
  7. Start by spooning a layer of Oreo crumbs into the bottom of each serving cup (about 2 tablespoons / 30 g).
  8. Place 2-3 gummy worm halves on top of the Oreo crumb layer, gently pressing them into the crumbs so they’re partially covered.
  9. Spoon about 1/4 cup (60 ml) of the pudding mixture over the gummy worms, smoothing the top gently.
  10. Add another 2 tablespoons (30 g) of Oreo crumbs, then a few more gummy worm pieces, and finish with a thick layer of pudding mixture.
  11. Sprinkle the reserved Oreo crumbs on top to mimic dirt.
  12. Refrigerate the cups for at least 1 hour to let the layers set and flavors meld.

Notes

Do not over-process Oreos to avoid powdery crumbs. Soften cream cheese before mixing to avoid lumps. Whip cream to soft peaks for best texture. Fold whipped cream gently to keep mousse-like texture. Chill at least 1 hour before serving. Can prepare pudding mixture a day ahead and assemble before serving. For dairy-free version, substitute milk and cream cheese with coconut milk and vegan alternatives. Use gluten-free cookies and pudding for gluten-free option.
