A quick and healthy breakfast bowl combining creamy Greek yogurt, fresh orange segments, and bittersweet dark chocolate for a refreshing and indulgent start to your day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (240 ml) Greek yogurt (full-fat or low-fat)
  • 1 medium orange, peeled and segmented
  • 1 oz (28 g) dark chocolate (70% cocoa or higher), roughly chopped or shaved
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • 1 tsp (5 g) chia seeds (optional)
  • A few fresh mint leaves (for garnish)
  • 2 tbsp (1520 g) slivered almonds or walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Peel the orange carefully, removing all the white pith. Segment the orange by cutting between the membranes to release clean slices.
  2. Zest about 1 teaspoon of orange peel over a mixing bowl, avoiding the white pith.
  3. Roughly chop 1 ounce (28 g) of dark chocolate into small shards or chunks.
  4. Spoon 1 cup (240 ml) of Greek yogurt into your serving bowl. Add the orange segments on top, then scatter the chopped dark chocolate evenly.
  5. Drizzle honey or maple syrup if desired for extra sweetness.
  6. Sprinkle in chia seeds and slivered almonds or walnuts if using. Garnish with fresh mint leaves.
  7. Optionally, gently stir to mix flavors or leave layered for texture contrast.
  8. Serve immediately for best texture and flavor.

Notes

Let Greek yogurt sit at room temperature for 5 minutes before assembling to avoid cold shock. Slice orange segments over a bowl to catch juice and stir it into yogurt for extra sweetness. Keep nuts separate if prepping ahead to maintain crunch. Use quality dark chocolate (70% cocoa or higher) for best flavor. For dairy-free, substitute Greek yogurt with coconut or almond-based yogurt and replace honey with maple syrup or agave nectar.
