These honey garlic BBQ sausage bites are a quick, crowd-pleasing party snack featuring smoked sausage rounds glazed in a sticky, sweet, and savory honey garlic BBQ sauce. Perfect for gatherings, game days, or easy appetizers, they come together in under 30 minutes with simple ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 oz smoked sausages (beef, pork, turkey, chicken, or plant-based), sliced into 1/2-inch rounds
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
  • 23 cloves garlic, finely minced (or 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce (or tamari/coconut aminos for gluten-free)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional)
  • Optional garnishes: chopped fresh parsley or chives, toasted sesame seeds, red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Slice smoked sausages into 1/2-inch thick rounds and pat dry with a paper towel.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together honey, BBQ sauce, minced garlic, and soy sauce. If using, melt butter and whisk it in.
  3. Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sausage slices in a single layer and cook for 3-4 minutes per side until browned and crispy at the edges. (Alternatively, bake on a rimmed baking sheet at 400°F for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway.)
  4. Pour the honey garlic BBQ glaze over the browned sausage bites. Stir to coat and simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the glaze thickens and clings to the sausage.
  5. Optional: For extra caramelization, transfer sausage bites and glaze to a parchment-lined baking sheet and broil on high for 1-2 minutes, watching closely.
  6. Transfer to a serving platter. Garnish with parsley, sesame seeds, or red pepper flakes if desired. Serve hot with toothpicks.

Notes

For best results, brown the sausage slices before adding the glaze. Avoid overcrowding the pan to ensure caramelization. Simmer the glaze gently to prevent burning. For a spicier version, add sriracha or chipotle to the glaze. Use tamari and gluten-free BBQ sauce for a gluten-free option, and plant-based sausage with maple syrup for vegan. Leftovers keep well and can be reheated in a skillet or microwave.
