A quick and flavorful stir-fry recipe featuring tender beef, crisp broccoli, and a sweet-savory honey garlic sauce. Perfect for busy weeknights and healthier than takeout!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 3 cups fresh broccoli florets, washed and trimmed
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons neutral cooking oil (like vegetable or avocado oil)
  • Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
  • Cooked rice (white rice, brown rice, or cauliflower rice, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Slice the beef thinly against the grain, wash and trim broccoli florets, and mince the garlic. Set everything aside.
  2. In a small mixing bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, rice vinegar, and cornstarch slurry. Whisk until smooth.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the sliced beef in batches and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
  4. Add the remaining tablespoon of oil to the skillet. Toss in the broccoli florets and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until bright green and slightly tender.
  5. Return the beef to the skillet with the broccoli. Pour the sauce over everything and toss to coat. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and clings to the ingredients.
  6. Spoon the beef and broccoli mixture over cooked rice. Garnish with sesame seeds if desired, and serve hot.

Notes

For best results, slice the beef thinly against the grain and avoid overcrowding the pan when cooking. If the sauce isn’t thickening, let it simmer for an extra minute or two while stirring.
