Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (230g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (220g) brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups (375g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1½ cups (270g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Special toppings like sprinkles, crushed cookies, or caramel drizzle

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line your baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  3. Add eggs and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined. Don’t overmix.
  6. Fold in semi-sweet chocolate chips or your desired mix-ins.
  7. Use a cookie scoop to portion out the dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between cookies as they will spread.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers look slightly underbaked.
  9. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking to enhance flavor and prevent spreading. Slightly underbake the cookies for soft and gooey centers.
