Warm, fluffy rolls filled with gooey melted cheese, savory meats, and tangy sauces—perfect for parties and gatherings.

Ingredients

  • Soft dinner rolls or slider buns (e.g., Hawaiian rolls)
  • Thinly sliced deli meats (ham, turkey, roast beef)
  • Provolone, Swiss, cheddar, or mozzarella cheese
  • Unsalted butter, melted
  • Dijon or yellow mustard
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Italian seasoning
  • Poppy seeds or sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease your baking dish or sheet pan.
  2. Slice the rolls in half horizontally, keeping the tops and bottoms intact. Place the bottom halves in the prepared baking dish.
  3. Add a layer of meat, followed by a layer of cheese, on top of the bottom halves of the rolls.
  4. Place the top halves of the rolls back on top to create sandwiches.
  5. In a small bowl, mix melted butter with mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, and Italian seasoning.
  6. Use a brush to generously coat the tops of the rolls with the butter mixture. Sprinkle with poppy seeds or sesame seeds if desired.
  7. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the rolls are warm.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 3-5 minutes to toast the tops lightly.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving. Slice into individual sandwiches and enjoy!

Notes

[‘Don’t skip the butter mixture—it adds flavor and keeps the rolls from drying out.’, ‘Let the meat and cheese sit out for 10-15 minutes before assembling for even heating.’, ‘Covering with foil helps the cheese melt evenly without the tops browning too quickly.’, ‘Assemble sandwiches ahead of time and refrigerate until ready to bake.’]
