  • 1 ½ cups (255 grams) semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips or melting wafers
  • Mini marshmallows or candy dots for the button
  • Licorice strings or thin Twizzlers (black or red) for the tassel
  • Edible gold or colored sprinkles (optional)
  • Wax or parchment paper for setting

Instructions

  1. Melt the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth and fully melted, or melt over a double boiler on low heat (about 3-5 minutes).
  2. Lay out about 30 mini square pretzels on a baking sheet lined with wax or parchment paper, spaced apart.
  3. Spread a small dollop (about 1 teaspoon) of melted chocolate on each pretzel to create the cap. Optionally dip halfway for extra coverage but keep it thin.
  4. Quickly press a mini marshmallow or candy dot onto the center of each chocolate-topped pretzel while the chocolate is still wet.
  5. Cut licorice strings into 1.5-inch pieces and place one piece next to the button on each cap to mimic a tassel. Add a tiny dollop of chocolate to secure if desired.
  6. Sprinkle edible glitter or colored sprinkles over the caps for decoration (optional).
  7. Allow the pretzel caps to set at room temperature for 20-30 minutes or refrigerate for 10-15 minutes to speed up setting.
  8. Once firm, transfer carefully to a serving platter and enjoy.

Notes

Melt chocolate slowly to avoid seizing. Work quickly when pressing marshmallows or candy dots onto wet chocolate for best adhesion. Cut licorice tassels uniformly for neat appearance. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate to keep chocolate firm.
