These spooky mozzarella skulls are cheesy, gooey, and perfect for any Halloween party. They’re festive, fun, and irresistibly delicious!

Ingredients

  • Fresh mozzarella cheese (blocks or balls, preferably whole-milk)
  • Eggs (beaten)
  • Breadcrumbs (plain or panko)
  • All-purpose flour
  • Skull-shaped silicone mold
  • Cooking spray
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Optional: Garlic powder, Italian seasoning, smoked paprika
  • Optional dipping sauce: Marinara, ranch, or Halloween-themed sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Spray your skull-shaped silicone mold lightly with cooking spray.
  2. Cut the mozzarella into small chunks that will fit snugly into the molds or shred the mozzarella if preferred.
  3. In one bowl, whisk the eggs until smooth. In a second bowl, add the flour. In a third bowl, combine the breadcrumbs with your choice of seasonings (salt, pepper, garlic powder, etc.).
  4. Dip each mozzarella chunk into the flour, coating evenly. Then dip it into the egg mixture, followed by the seasoned breadcrumbs. Repeat the dipping process for double breading if you want extra crunch.
  5. Place the breaded mozzarella chunks into each cavity of the mold, pressing slightly to ensure they take on the skull shape.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes, or until the breadcrumbs are golden and the cheese is melted inside. Keep an eye on them to avoid overbaking!
  7. Carefully remove the skulls from the mold and place them on a serving tray. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes

Double breading adds extra crunch. Use room-temperature mozzarella for better melting. Customize the breading with herbs or Parmesan for added flavor.
