This Pepperoni Pizza Grilled Cheese Sandwich combines the cheesy, savory goodness of pizza with the crispy, buttery magic of grilled cheese for the ultimate comfort food experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 thick slices sourdough bread
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 810 slices pepperoni
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded or fresh
  • 2 tablespoons pizza sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)

Instructions

  1. Spread softened butter on one side of each slice of bread. This will be the outside of the sandwich.
  2. Flip the bread over and spread a thin layer of pizza sauce on the unbuttered side of each slice.
  3. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the pizza sauce on one slice of bread.
  4. Layer pepperoni slices on top of the cheese. Add as many as desired.
  5. Sprinkle Italian seasoning over the pepperoni, if desired.
  6. Place the second slice of bread (sauce-side down) on top to form the sandwich.
  7. Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Place the sandwich butter-side down in the skillet.
  8. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, pressing gently with a spatula, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  9. Remove the sandwich from the skillet and let it rest for a minute before slicing in half.

Notes

[‘Cook on medium heat to ensure the bread crisps up without burning while the cheese melts evenly.’, ‘Fresh mozzarella and high-quality pepperoni enhance the flavor.’, ‘Avoid pressing the sandwich too hard while cooking to prevent flattening and cheese leakage.’, ‘Experiment with add-ins like thinly sliced onions, olives, or jalapeños for extra flavor.’, ‘Preheat your skillet to avoid sticking and achieve a golden crust.’]
