Quick Juicy Corn on the Cob Microwave Recipe

quick juicy corn on the cob microwave recipe - featured image

A fast and easy microwave method to cook juicy, tender corn on the cob with minimal cleanup and perfect flavor.

Ingredients

  • Fresh corn on the cob (husked or with husks on)
  • Butter (unsalted or salted, softened or melted)
  • Salt (kosher or sea salt)
  • Optional seasonings: black pepper, smoked paprika, chili powder, lime juice
  • Water (1-2 tablespoons if husks removed)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the corn: If using corn with husks, trim the silk strands but leave the husk intact. For husked corn, wrap each ear tightly in a damp paper towel.
  2. Place the corn on a microwave-safe plate.
  3. Microwave on high for 3 to 5 minutes depending on microwave wattage and ear size. For a 1000W microwave, 4 minutes is ideal for two ears; add 1-2 minutes per additional ear.
  4. Carefully remove the corn using tongs or oven mitts and let it rest for 1-2 minutes to finish cooking with steam.
  5. Peel back the husk or unwrap the paper towel, brush with softened butter, sprinkle with salt and any additional seasonings, and serve immediately.

Notes

Leave the husk on to act as a natural steamer and retain moisture. Start microwaving with 3 minutes and add time in 30-second increments to avoid overcooking. Use fresh corn for best results. Butter after cooking for best flavor. Season creatively with spices or cheese. For vegan option, substitute butter with olive oil or plant-based spread.
