Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 2 cups Corn Chex cereal
  • 2 cups Wheat Chex cereal
  • 1 cup pretzel sticks or twists
  • 1 cup bagel chips (optional, garlic-flavored recommended)
  • 1 cup cheese crackers (like Cheez-It)
  • 1/2 cup roasted peanuts or mixed nuts (optional)
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 packet ranch seasoning mix (about 1 oz)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Fresh cracked black pepper (optional, a few twists)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 250°F (120°C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine Rice Chex, Corn Chex, Wheat Chex, pretzels, bagel chips, cheese crackers, and nuts (if using). Toss gently to mix.
  3. Melt butter in a small microwave-safe bowl (about 30 seconds). Stir in ranch seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper (if using) until smooth.
  4. Slowly drizzle the ranch butter mixture over the cereal mix, tossing gently with a spatula or hands after each pour to evenly coat.
  5. Transfer the coated mix to the prepared baking sheet and spread in an even layer.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes to redistribute the seasoning and ensure even crisping.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool on the baking sheet for at least 15 minutes. The mix will crisp up as it cools.
  8. Once fully cool, transfer to an airtight container for storage or serve immediately.

Notes

For gluten-free, use gluten-free Chex cereals, pretzels, and crackers. Omit nuts for allergies or substitute with sunflower seeds. Stir well for even coating and crispness. For extra crunch, bake an additional 5–10 minutes, watching closely. Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week or freeze for up to 2 months.
