A refreshingly tart, sweet, icy cherry limeade slushie perfect for summer, made with simple ingredients and no fancy machines.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (300g) fresh or frozen cherries, pitted
  • Juice of 2 large limes (about 1/4 cup or 60ml)
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar or simple syrup
  • 1 cup (240ml) chilled sparkling water
  • 2 cups (about 300g) ice cubes
  • Mint leaves (optional, for garnish or muddling)

Instructions

  1. Rinse and pit about 2 cups (300g) of fresh cherries. If using frozen, rinse quickly under cold water.
  2. Squeeze 2 large limes to get roughly 1/4 cup (60ml) of fresh lime juice. Strain out seeds if needed.
  3. If using simple syrup, combine 1/4 cup (50g) sugar with 1/4 cup water in a small saucepan. Heat gently, stirring until sugar dissolves, then cool before use.
  4. Add cherries, lime juice, simple syrup (or sugar), and 1 cup (240ml) chilled sparkling water into the blender. Blend on medium speed until smooth, about 30 seconds.
  5. Add 2 cups (about 300g) ice cubes to the blender. Pulse on high speed until ice is crushed and mixture thickens to slushie consistency, about 1 minute. Stir if needed.
  6. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness by adding more sugar or lime juice as desired.
  7. Serve immediately in tall glasses, garnished with fresh mint leaves or a lime wheel.

Notes

Use fresh lime juice for best flavor; bottled lime juice is not recommended. Chill glasses beforehand for extra frosty presentation. Avoid over-blending ice to prevent watery texture. Leftovers can be frozen and re-blended before serving. Optional additions include mint, a pinch of sea salt, or a splash of tequila or rum for adults. Coconut yogurt can be added for a creamy twist.
