A quick and easy summer mocktail combining fresh watermelon, zesty ginger, and bubbly sparkling water for a refreshing and light drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh watermelon, diced and seeded
  • 1-inch piece fresh ginger root, peeled and grated
  • Juice of 1 medium lime
  • 1 cup sparkling water (plain or flavored)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or agave nectar (optional)
  • Ice cubes as needed
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut the watermelon into small cubes, removing seeds.
  2. Peel and grate the fresh ginger root.
  3. Juice the lime.
  4. Place watermelon cubes and grated ginger into a mixing glass.
  5. Gently muddle with a muddler or wooden spoon to release juices without over-muddling.
  6. Add lime juice and honey or agave nectar if using; stir gently until dissolved.
  7. Optional: strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer for a smooth drink.
  8. Fill serving glasses with ice cubes.
  9. Pour the muddled watermelon mixture over the ice.
  10. Top with sparkling water and stir gently to combine.
  11. Garnish with fresh mint sprigs or a lime slice and serve immediately.

Notes

Use fresh ginger for best flavor; adjust sweetness based on watermelon ripeness. Add sparkling water last to preserve fizz. Chill watermelon cubes ahead for extra refreshment. Strain for a smoother texture if desired.
