A rich and velvety seven layer dip perfect for parties, combining creamy, savory, and fresh flavors with simple ingredients you likely have on hand.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz (226 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup (240 ml) sour cream
  • 1 tbsp taco seasoning
  • 1 cup (240 g) refried beans
  • 1 cup (115 g) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup (150 g) diced tomatoes, drained
  • 1/2 cup (70 g) sliced black olives
  • 1/4 cup (25 g) chopped green onions
  • 1 cup (30 g) chopped fresh lettuce
  • 2 tbsp sliced jalapeños (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, and taco seasoning. Blend with an electric mixer or hand whisk until smooth and creamy.
  2. In a 9×9 inch (23×23 cm) serving dish, evenly spread refried beans as the first layer, smoothing with the back of a spoon or small ladle.
  3. Gently spread the cream cheese mixture over the refried beans layer.
  4. Evenly sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the cream cheese layer.
  5. Layer diced and drained tomatoes, sliced black olives, chopped green onions, and chopped fresh lettuce on top.
  6. If desired, scatter sliced jalapeños evenly over the top layer.
  7. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to let flavors meld.

Notes

Soften cream cheese before mixing for smooth texture. Drain tomatoes and olives well to avoid watery dip. Chill dip for at least 30 minutes to let flavors meld and layers firm up. Use sturdy chips like kettle-cooked or thick tortilla chips for serving.
